Where this started

Better Birdies started with a simple frustration: golf gear advice online is either a wall of affiliate spam ranking twelve products it never touched, or a brand's own marketing copy wearing a review's clothes. Both are written by people who don't actually play. We do.

Every recommendation here earned its spot for one reason — it's what we'd genuinely put in a bag. Balls matched to a swing speed instead of to whatever's newest. Clubs, bags, gloves and rangefinders judged on the handful of specs that change a round, and honest about the many that don't.

We don't sell or ship anything. Every pick links out to Amazon, and if you buy through one of those links we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That's how the site stays free and free of ads. It also means we'd rather tell you the cheap ball is the right ball for your swing — a reader who trusts us comes back, and one who got talked into the wrong $55 dozen doesn't.

The guides say in writing that a tour ball is wasted on most swing speeds and that no driver on earth fixes a slice. Telling you not to spend money is the whole point.
